The wonderful traditional, but now dying, martial arts of Varanasi, known as Bana (play of sword) and Banethi (play of sticks and ropes with fire), were the points of attraction for the spectators.
The arts of Bana was demonstrated by Shri Madan Lal Yadav and Banethi by Shri Krishna Murari Sharma and his group.
The explanatory note by Dr. N. P. Joshi on the occasion pointed out the practical importance of such games, which was basically meant for both attack and self-defence.
Shrauta-Yaga Mitravindeshti was coordinated by Prof. Yugal Kishor Mishra and Prof. Hridaya Ranjan Sharma
Performed by Ahitagni Mahadeva Shastri Agnihotri, Shri Shashi Kant Agnigotri and Group from Buldhana, Maharashtra with the help of other renowned priests from Nasik and Varanasi.
This exhibition was put up at Jnana-Pravaha during the Ganga Mahotsava organized by the Department of U.P. Tourism.
The three-day exhibition was the point of attraction for tourists and people of Varanasi alike.
